Meet Our Founder & CEO Shaunta Moseley, RN Founder | Chief Executive Officer | School Director
Shaunta Moseley, RN, is a dedicated healthcare professional, educator, entrepreneur, and visionary leader with a passion for creating opportunities through education.
Her journey in healthcare began as a Certified Nursing Assistant before advancing her career as a Registered Nurse. With more than a decade of nursing experience in long-term care, hospice, critical care, and medical-surgical nursing, Shaunta developed a deep understanding of the healthcare industry and the importance of quality training.
Driven by her passion for education and her desire to make a meaningful difference in her community, Shaunta founded SM School of Opportunity in 2020 in Bessemer, Alabama.
What began as a vision to provide accessible, career-focused healthcare education has evolved into an institution offering multiple training pathways, including Certified Nursing Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, Clinical Medical Assistant, and combined healthcare certification programs.
As Founder and CEO, Shaunta leads with a commitment to educational excellence, workforce readiness, professional development, and community empowerment. She believes education should do more than prepare individuals for employment—it should provide a foundation for personal growth, financial independence, and long-term success.

Admission Requirements
Admission requirements vary by program. Prospective students may be required to provide the following:
- A completed enrollment application and required registration documents.
- A valid government-issued photo identification.
- A high school diploma or GED for programs requiring proof of secondary education, including Clinical Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy.
- Current immunization documentation, tuberculosis screening, and Hepatitis B documentation, as applicable to the program or clinical facility.
- Any additional health screenings, background checks, or documentation required for clinical participation.
Students must satisfy all applicable admission and clinical requirements before participating in designated training activities.
Important: Specific admission requirements, documentation deadlines, and clinical eligibility standards will be provided during the enrollment process.

Our Nursing Assistant Program provides students with the essential knowledge, hands-on skills, and practical clinical experience needed to prepare for entry-level employment in long-term care facilities, hospitals, and other healthcare settings.

Flexible Learning Options
We understand that students have different schedules and responsibilities. That's why SM School of Opportunity offers multiple training options.
Traditional Day Program
Our accelerated, in-person CNA program provides structured classroom instruction, hands-on skills training, and supervised clinical experience.
Evening Hybrid Program
Our four-week hybrid program combines online theory instruction with scheduled in-person skills laboratory sessions and clinical training. Evening classes are scheduled from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with clinical dates provided in the official class schedule.
Weekend Program
Designed for students with weekday commitments, this option combines online theory instruction with scheduled weekend skills training and clinical experiences.
Self-Paced Hybrid Program
Our six-week program offers additional flexibility through online theory coursework, scheduled in-person skills training, and required clinical experiences.
All students must complete the required classroom or online instruction, hands-on skills training, and clinical requirements associated with their selected program.
What You'll Learn
Our Nursing Assistant Program provides training in essential patient care skills, including:
- Introduction to healthcare and the nursing assistant role
- Infection prevention and control
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Residents' rights and professional responsibilities
- Measuring and recording vital signs
- Personal hygiene and activities of daily living
- Safe transfers, positioning, and mobility assistance
- Nutrition, hydration, and feeding assistance

Program graduates who meet applicable eligibility requirements may take the Alabama Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation, which includes written or oral and clinical skills components.
Students who successfully meet Alabama's requirements may be placed on the Alabama Nurse Aide Registry.
Completion of the training program does not automatically result in nurse aide certification or registry placement.

Classes are 15 weeks
First 11 weeks will consist of theory and lab
Last 4 week will consist of externship (80 hours required)

Each class will consist of 8 students

4. Mock certification exam/ skills evaluation check off

Upon completion of the class and skills check off, students will receive a certificate of completion and earn the right to test for clinical medical assistant certification exam AND certified phlebotomy technician exam with NHA (National HealthCareer Association)
